Dan Herbatschek is the founder of the scholarship and an applied mathematician whose own educational journey reflects the spirit of this award. A Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Columbia University, Dan studied Mathematics, Philosophy, and Intellectual History, where his passion for ideas and problem-solving shaped the foundation of his career.
Having experienced firsthand the challenges and breakthroughs that come with pursuing knowledge outside of a traditional path, Dan created this scholarship to support students who share the same determination.
