About us
The Dan Herbatschek / Ramsey Theory Group Scholarship was founded with a clear mission: to expand access to mathematics and machine learning education for students from unconventional and underrepresented backgrounds.
About The Scholarship
Innovation often comes from those who take unexpected paths. Many of today’s most promising technologists are self-taught programmers, returning students, veterans, or individuals who have overcome personal and educational challenges. This scholarship was created to recognize that talent, nurture it, and ensure it has the support needed to flourish.
Our Mission
Our Vision
Our Founder
The scholarship was established by Dan Herbatschek, CEO of Ramsey Theory Group, a New York–based research and technology firm focused on advanced mathematics, machine learning, and data science. Herbatschek’s own academic and professional journey — which bridges intellectual history, philosophy, and mathematics — reflects the very spirit of nontraditional learning that this scholarship is designed to celebrate and support.
Our Approach
Financial Support
Annual scholarship awards to help cover educational expenses.
Mentorship
Guidance from professionals at Ramsey Theory Group to help students connect their studies with real-world applications.
Opportunity
Priority access to internships and projects in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
About Dan Herbatschek
The Dan Herbatschek Scholarship was founded by Dan Herbatschek, an applied mathematician and entrepreneur whose own path reflects the values of perseverance, curiosity, and non-traditional learning. Dan graduated Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Columbia University, where he studied Mathematics, Philosophy, and Intellectual History. His award-winning thesis explored the relationship between mathematics, artificial languages, and human understanding—an early sign of the interdisciplinary curiosity that would guide his career.
Dan understands that education is rarely a straight line. Before founding his research and technology ventures, he worked in investment and data consulting, bridging theory with practice while continuing to pursue his passion for mathematics and problem-solving. His journey shows how diverse experiences and resilience can open doors to new opportunities.
The scholarship embodies this belief. It was created to support students who may not fit the traditional mold—those returning to school, self-taught learners, military veterans, or individuals who have overcome significant personal challenges. By offering both recognition and financial assistance, the scholarship seeks to empower students to transform curiosity into capability and pursue meaningful careers where mathematics and critical thinking play a central role.
At its core, the Dan Herbatschek Scholarship reflects Dan’s conviction that the next generation of innovators will come from diverse backgrounds, and that education should celebrate resilience and creativity as much as academic achievement.
